Everyone paints Necron blades the same way… even myself. So in this video I wanted to give it a twist and see if I can get that classic, super crisp Necron glow look, but using only metallic paints. This is part of my TMM series, where I showcase how ridiculously good the True Metallic Metal range can be when you treat it like normal layering and glazing—just with all the extra magic you get from real metallic reflection. I start from a black prime (but honestly, black/white/grey all work) and build a green metallic base with a 1:1 mix of Dusken Green Base and Amber Green Base. From there I sketch the highlight pattern with pure Amber Green Base, then I do all the shading with Dusken Green Shade mixed 1:1 with Express Medium using my apply-and-feather method. Once the shadows are locked in, I push the brightness with Amber Green Base + Radiant Yellow Base, then go even lighter (4:1 Radiant Yellow to Amber Green) to really sell the energy pattern. Finally, I edge highlight with Radiant Yellow Base + Amber Green Light, tighten it up with Radiant Yellow Light (my “ice yellow for metallics”), and add tiny final pops with a 1:1 mix of Sterling Silver Light and Radiant Yellow Light. The big takeaway: by controlling where things are shiny and where they go matte, you get a blade that shifts in the light and looks, honestly, insanely cool.
