About This Video

In this Zero Skill episode I show you the easiest way I’ve found to paint Raptor armour with a really convincing, classic olive drab look—fast results, minimal fuss, and it still looks “right” on the table. I’ve wanted to do a contrast-style Raptors scheme for a long time, and once I started testing Vallejo Express Color properly I finally had the tools to make it justice. The whole idea is simple: build a warm brown shadow under the green, then let the green tint do the heavy lifting. I start from a light primer (I used Wraithbone, but any light/white spray works) and then I lay down a 1:1 mix of Vallejo Express “Muddy Ground” and “Mahogany” over the armour. After that, the real magic is drybrushing: first Nurgling Green from the top down to create natural zenithal highlights, then a very light satin white drybrush just to pick the edges and push the volumes. Finally, I apply a thin 1:1 mix of Express “Commando Green” and “Camouflage Green” to tint everything into that lovely Raptor green while keeping the warm shadows. If you want to take it further, I add optional edge highlights and stippled texture with Game Color Camouflage Green, plus tiny chips/scratches (because… it’s Raptors), and then a final targeted pop with Game Color “Dead Flesh”.
