Are you intimidated by painting white? In this Zero Skill episode I show you my easiest way to paint clean, cold white armor in just three simple steps, using a Bone/Belon-style Eldar scheme as the example. The whole idea is to start from a grey primer (anything darker than pure white), then build the “white” with controlled drybrushing and a super forgiving Express Paint filter. You don’t need an airbrush here—this is Zero Skill—so the method is designed to be fast, repeatable, and perfect for army painting. Step one is a white drybrush over the grey. I really recommend a satin white (or a quick satin varnish) because it helps the next layer behave nicely. Step two is the Express Paint layer: I mix 1 part Starship Steel with 5 parts Express Medium for the armor (and for the helmet I use 1 part Twilight Rose to 5 parts medium), then I wipe the excess from the most exposed areas to keep everything bright. Step three is another very thin white drybrush to finish the armor and even give you easy edge highlights on black details. After that, I show optional upgrades: Black Lotus over a pre-shaded black base for a gorgeous, effortless black; Deep Purple for extra details; and a quick recess shade with a 1:1 Starship Steel + Black Lotus mix to make everything pop. Finally, I clean and sharpen the edges with pure white—amazing results for the work we put in.
