In this Heavy Contrast episode (sponsored by Corvus Belli), I paint the Lang Imperial Tac Police from Infinity’s Yu Jing with a very particular orange-yellow armor that’s honestly way easier than people think. The key is the setup: a wraithbone prime, then a purple-to-white zenithal (I did it with airbrush using Warlord Purple and white, but you can absolutely do it with sprays). Over that, I go in with Yanden Yellow to get that warm, orangey yellow that suits the faction really nicely—then it’s just a matter of controlling pooling and keeping the panels clean. From there I block in the “structure” colors: deep black with Mechanicus Standard Grey + Black Templar (I like it because it’s cool-toned and it pops against yellow), plus the light and dark greys using a chromatic mix (Wicked Purple + Starship Steel) and Black Lotus for that beautiful navy blue-grey. Then I elevate everything with quick, practical highlights: a cheeky white drybrush on the blacks, softened with a thinned Black Templar glaze (I prefer Express Medium for a flatter finish), simple edge highlights on the whites, and weathered scratches on the armor—because weathering hides all the crimes. To finish, I add super easy green “daylight OSL” details: Corax White base, Warp Lightning tint, then Scorpy Green, Yellow Green, and a final Ice Yellow + Yellow Green pop, keeping a dark outline to sell the glow.
