Hello fellow Hs of the blue—this video is my New Year hobby resolution in action: I want to actually play more games, so I’m starting a “paint playable warbands” challenge with Warhammer Underworlds. Only 3–6 models means I can collect a lot of warbands, paint them fast, and get them on the table. And because I like to make things interesting, I’m doing it using my Perfect Paint Palettes (my 100 paint set), testing how versatile my color choices really are and whether the selection needs changes as time goes on. I show the updates to my palette (including swapping out some beige/browns for a yellow-green and a deeply saturated blue, and switching from Bold Titanium White to a satin white because ultra-matte whites just don’t work for me). Then we get cracking: black prime, a desaturated slapchop drybrush using Kiss of Flesh, then a super soft White Scar drybrush. From there it’s efficient, repeatable steps—Express/Contrast skins, pink tails, desaturated cloth mixes, quick lenses and armor, simple wood and leather, and fast metallics with warm highlights using White Gold. To finish, I go through my fire recipe (white → Bad Moon Yellow → orange/red highlights) and the warpstone/OSL approach (Warp Lightning, reinforce with white, then Striking Scorpion Green, plus cooler shadows with Terradon Turquoise). Fully playable Skaven warband in a single day—my first ever Skaven, and yes… filthy rats can look amazing.
