Next Wave is here, and I couldn’t resist painting these Cyberpunk Humans and Robot Dinosaurs with a twist: metallics. This is a Heavy Contrast tutorial, so the goal is the same as always—easy methods, fast results, and a finish that looks way more complicated than it really is. I start from a black primer with a white zenithal (airbrush if you have it, rattle can if you don’t), then I block in the red inner structure with Blood Moon Red because, honestly, it’s one of my favorite reds from any contrast-type range and I wanted an excuse to use it. The experiment in this video is simple: everyone paints Infinity in NMM, and I get it… but I wanted to see how far I can push True Metallic Metal instead. I paint the “bone” panels with Arcane Gold Light and build the shine with Sterling Silver Light using thin glazing passes, then I warm and deepen the shadows with Radiant Yellow Shade (yes, I’m using Express-based shades for Heavy Contrast—this is my channel and I do what I want). The black metallic areas are Obsidian Black Base + Shade, highlighted with Obsidian Black Light and finished with a sharp Sterling Silver Light edge. To finish, I add the signature gun tip gradient with a quick drybrush from black into Forge Red, paint the blades with a magenta-to-turquoise metallic blend, and tie everything together with simple turquoise OSL over a white underpaint. Fast, clean, and the result is pretty damn satisfying.
