In this video I’m back in the shop at J4B Overland Solutions working on our 4xe after we just geared it and stepped up to 37s. The problem was immediate: the Jeep has a small lift and the Rubicon driveline, but it doesn’t have the Rubicon high-clearance flares. Out back we had almost no room before the tire started kissing the fender well, and even light flex off-road was making a ton of noise. So instead of forcing it or pretending it’s “fine,” we fixed the clearance the right way. I walk you through swapping factory JL flares (plastic) for Hook Road high-clearance aluminum flares. The removal is honestly super straightforward—inner liner bolts, then the flare is basically plastic clips and a good yank. I also show you the part that makes people nervous: the front turn signal wiring. You cut the factory harness off the old flare, identify the three wires you actually need (ground, blinker, and the constant signal wire to keep dash warnings away), splice it into the new flare wiring, and test it. End result: more clearance, better durability, and a fit and finish that matches the Jeep perfectly.
