About This Video

In this video, I simplify one of the most common questions I see all over social media: what kind of off-road tire should you run? I’m not here to tell you what to buy—at the end of the day it’s your rig and your decision—but I am going to break down the real differences between the three major categories: All-Terrain (AT), Mud-Terrain (MT), and the newer Hybrid tires. I talk about what each one is designed to do, where they shine, and where they fall short, so you can match the tire to how you actually use your Jeep. ATs are the well-rounded entry-level option with great road manners and decent trail capability, but they can clog up in deep mud, snow, or clay. MTs were born out of the need for more bite and self-cleaning, especially as people started pushing bigger sizes like 35s and 37s, but you pay for it with noise, rougher road manners, and usually no tread-life warranty. Then we’ve got hybrids—kind of the “Goldilocks” tire—trying to blend AT comfort with MT capability. I also share why I moved away from my long-time MT preference, my experience getting 78,000 miles out of KM3s, and why I’m currently testing the Hankook Dynapro XT to see if a hybrid can keep up with the way I wheel and teach.
