Babe asked the question we’ve all heard: “Why are we replacing the radio again? It’s brand new.” And she wasn’t wrong—my previous 12-inch unit worked fine. But the more I used it (especially off-road), the more I realized it didn’t have the features I actually wanted: easy OnX Offroad access without juggling phone hotspot/Bluetooth conflicts, more onboard storage for music and media, and a screen I can actually see in the sun. So in this video I install and field-test a 13.1-inch A-Sure Android 14 head unit with a QLED display, an aluminum case, a cooling fan, wireless Android Auto, and—this is the big one—SIM card support with a dedicated 4G antenna. After a week-plus of real use, I walk through what impressed me (brightness, speed, sound output, 64GB storage, responsive apps, and how well OnX runs with constant connectivity) and what caught me off guard (how far it protrudes, tight steering wheel clearance for the wiper stalk, and how it can interfere with accessories like my VHF mic). I also cover a Chrysler/Jeep-specific must-know: you need the CANBUS box for logic controls, and you may have to manually program steering wheel controls inside factory settings (for my JK: XP simple > Jeep > all > high amp). Bottom line—this thing is a lot of tech for a couple hundred bucks, and it held up on bumpy, rocky trails without budging.
