About This Video

In this video I review the Venture Electronics UA Guangzhi (UA Gonzi), a single dynamic driver IEM that sits around the $50 range (and can creep closer to $100 depending on where you see it). This one was a loan from a friend of the channel (shout out to Mike), so I spent a few days doing A/B comparisons against sets I know really well at the price—stuff like the Kiwi Ears Cadenza and even the KZ Phantom—to figure out where it actually lands for my library. I start with build and comfort: the shell is extremely small, light, and honestly great for tiny ears, with good venting and a flat 2-pin connection. The included 4.4 “little DAC” is a nice touch, and you also get a case, tips, and even a computer adapter. My big issue on the accessory side is the cable: it didn’t behave well for me, and without proper ear hooks it kept getting in my face. Sound-wise, I wanted to love it because the graph looks good, but it just didn’t consistently work for me. It leans warm with rich, thick bass and mids, and on the right tracks (rock/metal) it can sound really good—but with treble-focused music, classical, and especially female vocals, it fell apart for my preferences. I ended up ranking it as a solid “C” because it had good days and bad days, and I can’t fully recommend it as a blind buy—more of a “demo it if you can” set.
