About This Video

In this video I cover the Kefine Arnar, a $189 IEM that Kefine sent over as a sample. It’s a single BA + single planar setup, and the first thing I talk about is the build: a really nice metallic shell that fits and isolates well (which you don’t always get together). It’s also an open-back IEM with replaceable nozzles, and the faceplate looks premium in person. The cable is a flat 2‑pin and it’s extremely slippery, but it does feel good in hand, has a real chin slider, and includes both 3.5 and 4.4 terminations (you just line up the arrows to keep polarity right). Sound-wise, the Arnar is thumpy with rich, precise bass and a real musicality to it. With the black nozzle (my preference), you get excellent sub-bass extension and a controlled shelf, but the set can feel a bit delicate—less incisive, less aggressive, and a little recessed around that 6–8k region for people who want more bite. It comes across smooth, buttery, fun, and very easy for long listening, with an airy/open character because it’s truly open back. I compare it to a bunch of sets (including other Kefines, open-back Septet, and options like Arete 2, Odyssey 2, Performer 7, and the 7Hz set) and end up giving it a strong recommendation—especially if you want a unique, relaxed open-back IEM and you’re not a treble head.
