In this video I break down the FiiO/JadeAudio JT7, an open-back planar headphone that comes in around $110. This specific unit was a loaner from Apos Audio (I don’t get to keep it), and I spent a lot of time talking through why the build quality is honestly shocking for the price. The chassis feels premium, durable, and “way more expensive than it should,” and I also cover the pad-swapping system (doable, but it takes a little finesse) plus the included cables (4.4 balanced and a 3.5/6.3 option) and the little travel pouch. Sound-wise, I go over the JT7’s tight, controlled, textured bass with a mild midbass punch, really clean and natural mids, and an energetic, airy treble that stays crisp and extended without turning piercing. The planar “shine” is here too—fast transients, strong detail retrieval, layering, and a presentation that doesn’t feel congested. I also show graphs, compare it to other headphones I’ve measured, and talk about EQ—especially addressing a bit of a 5k area peak. My big caveat: it’s hard to drive, and most people are going to want an amp. Overall though, it’s a strong recommendation and a ridiculous value for the money.
