It was great to be out again in Fife with this crystal, clear blue sky, though not the best conditions for painting as it was almost too blue. This was a small 7" x 5" on Fabriano artistic paper, 140lb in natural white If you have enjoyed my channel and would like to support it, 'buy me a coffee' is the perfect way to do so! About This Video

I headed back out to Pettycur Harbour in Fife on one of those crystal-clear autumn days with a sky that was almost too blue to be helpful. It looks gorgeous, but for painting it can flatten everything if you’re not careful, so in this little 7" x 5" watercolour I focused on keeping the boats and harbour shapes readable and letting the colour do the work without turning the whole thing into a postcard-blue wash. I painted it on Fabriano Artistico 140lb (natural white), keeping it small so I could work quickly and stay responsive to what I was seeing. I’m using my Winsor & Newton Artists’ watercolours, leaning on the blues (Ultramarine, Cobalt, Cerulean) to describe that clear air, and then warming things back up with earths like Raw Umber, Burnt Umber and Yellow Ochre so the boats sit properly in the scene. If you enjoy these plein air trips from the campervan with Tanya and want to help keep the adventures rolling, you can support the channel via Buy Me a Coffee—everything goes straight back into making more videos and getting us out painting.
