In this video I’m back on the road heading south, squeezing two plein air paintings into one trip along the Northumberland coast. First up is an oil painting at Lindisfarne where the wind is properly trying to ruin the whole setup—so I talk through how I simplify the scene, keep the easel under control, and focus on big shapes and values rather than getting lost in detail when the weather’s fighting you. After that I leg it over to Bamburgh for a watercolour, and this one’s very much against the clock. With the sun dropping fast, I’m making quick decisions—getting the light in early, keeping washes confident, and letting the painting stay fresh rather than overworking it. I’m also doing my little painting draw again: if you want a chance to buy the finished piece, leave a comment and I’ll pick a winner next Thursday. I’m keeping these prices low to encourage people into watercolour, and the money just goes straight back into making more videos and getting us out in the van for the next adventure.
