About This Video

In this video I break down my exact process for creating epic short-form content for brand deals—without overcomplicating it. For full transparency, we’re shooting three reels for the e-bike company Engwe. They gifted us the bike, but they don’t own or license the content, so I can still be honest about the product while keeping the focus on what actually matters here: the production process, the concepts, and how to execute clean, cinematic deliverables. Step one is understanding the brand and building concepts (not just “content”). I use Milanote to research, collect references, and map out the plan—locations, time of day, camera choices, settings, and any accessories I’ll need. Then we shoot with intention: a 360-mounted “what you see vs what my camera sees” reel built around match cuts across different environments, plus a slick gimbal-style concept (even if I’m still learning the gimbal). Along the way I’m constantly checking footage, chasing better light, and stacking different lighting scenarios—because that’s what makes branded reels stand out. Finally, editing and delivery becomes easy because the planning is done. I also share a big contract tip: watch for licensing clauses, and if a brand wants usage rights, that should be an added fee—because you’ve put in the work to create the results.
