In this video, we put the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro through the kind of real-world test we actually care about: cinematic travel shooting, especially underwater. We break down what’s new versus the Action 4—same 1/1.3" sensor size, but DJI’s claiming an upgraded sensor and a faster 4nm chip for better processing, sharper detail, and improved dynamic range. We also cover the big practical upgrades like 47GB of internal storage (so you can get shooting without buying an SD card) and the battery life claim of over 4 hours, plus new modes like Night Mode and Photo Burst. Then we jump into image quality comparisons and explain exactly what we look for: dynamic range, color science, sharpness/detail, and noise/artifacts. Underwater, we found the Action 5 Pro handled transitions between dark rocks and bright water surface better, and the detail in the sand, water texture, and light rays looked more refined. For divers, the 20m waterproof rating without a case and the new pressure gauge (depth/altitude data) are genuinely useful, especially since you can add that data later in the Mimo app. Finally, we get into what might be our favorite upgrade: the audio ecosystem. The Action 5 Pro integrates directly with DJI’s wireless mic transmitter for 48kHz audio (versus 16kHz when used with other cameras), and we do windy audio tests comparing native camera mics, wind reduction modes, and the wireless mic setup.
