For the launch of Insta360’s Ace Pro 2, Anna and I took it out on the Gold Coast and built a four-day shoot around real-world chaos—FPV, skydiving, kite surfing, freediving, and a V8 buggy ripping around a home track. We wanted more than a specs test. We wanted to see if this little 4K action cam could keep up when everything is moving fast, the mounts get abused, and you’ve got one chance to nail the shot. We kicked things off at GoCo Skydive where Anna got that “time-stretches-forever” feeling on the jump. Because we had production units, we did run into some lens fogging at altitude—Insta360 told us that’s now fixed—but the magnetic mounts held tight across three perspectives and the crew agreed we nailed it. The next day we linked with pro kite surfers Matt and Jamie and our favorite FPV pilot Brad to give the sport new eyes, then jumped in with Ry and John to see how Ace Pro 2 handled underwater color and freediving in murky, low-vis conditions. To finish, we mounted cameras absolutely everywhere on Chris’s V8 buggy and grabbed aerial angles from Brad—one of those epic days where every shot has a story.
