About This Video

Solo travel can be a genuinely life-changing experience, and for me it was. Back in 2015 it forced me out of my comfort zone, and looking back, I really believe it was the catalyst for my career as a filmmaker. In this video, I’m equipping you with a killer solo travel shot list so you can come home with the pieces you need to build one epic recap film—without overplanning or overthinking. Travel filmmaking is fluid, and a lot of my early work was retrospective storytelling: I lived the adventure first, then pieced the puzzle together after. We walk through the shots I’d prioritize: a powerful arrival shot that sets the tone, scenic shots (and yes, moody and overcast counts), cultural shots that are personal and interpretational, and adventure shots that reflect what “adventure” actually means to you—big and extrinsic or quiet and internal. I also break down why selfie shots matter if you’re the protagonist, and why a simple time lapse is one of the most powerful tools for solo travel because it creates space for reflection and connection. We finish with streets, people, and reflections—because your story decides what deserves the spotlight.
