About This Video

What’s up, guys—this video is my deep dive on my new Ceriatone JCM800 2203, and yeah… consider me impressed. Right out of the gate, this thing is pure JCM800 goodness. I walk through what makes it essentially a real 800 circuit at its heart, but with a couple extra tricks that I specifically asked for—most notably the 3‑way bright switch (stock 1000pF, bypass, and a tamer 100pF option). It’s one of those “doesn’t seem like much” mods that ends up being a big deal once you actually hear it, especially if you like shaping your gain with pedals. I also cover the half-power/triode mode, the onboard bias points (which saved me when I realized I had mismatched tubes), and my final tube choice: a matched quartet of JJ KT77s. Then I get into how Ceriatone builds these amps—specialized builders, multi-day assembly, burn-in, and Nick personally testing them—because build quality matters if you’re actually gigging. Finally, I put it where it counts: on stage with my 90s/2000s rock cover band. The post-gig report is exactly what you’d expect from an 800: it kicks all kinds of booty, takes every drive pedal I throw at it, and the bigger-wattage “girth” versus a 20-watt amp is very real even at the same decibel level. At around $1,400, it’s a ridiculous value compared to the Marshall reissue, and I explain why.
