About This Video

In this weekly vlog, I’m running a very Type A experiment: can I build a sustainable reading routine while working full time by committing to 40–45 pages a day? I take you through my actual week—work days as a mathematician, my morning routine, gym time, and the little pockets of time where reading realistically fits. I’m also reading The Ten Thousand Doors of January, and I share how reading is feeding my writing life in real time (because as a new writer, I’m paying attention to what inspires me and why). This week also gets more reflective. February always feels like a month of heightened sensitivity for me, and I talk honestly about being Black in STEM—how you can’t outrun misogynoir, what it costs mentally, and why I keep coming back to the idea of community as a real solution (not a cute one). The big takeaway is that routines aren’t just about discipline—they’re about design. I’m trying to build an ideal lifestyle with data-driven decision making, journaling, and reflection, so the reading challenge becomes less about “grind” and more about alignment.
