In this live studio vlog, I’m in my home studio getting prepped for my 11-day vendor event at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds in Georgia. I’m not making candles on camera today (no time), but I am doing the real behind-the-scenes work that has to get done: cleaning up jars, heat-gunning the tops, adding my warning labels (that I make myself on my Silhouette), and labeling my 2 oz and 4 oz candles so they’re ready to sell and ship. I’m also putting together sample wax melts to give out with candle purchases so people can try scents before committing. I talk through what the fair has been like—slower during the week (which I expected), but I’m still making sales, and the big win is I already made back my booth and insurance fees. That means everything after that is profit, and that’s the goal. I also share what’s selling for me right now (Coastal Serenity is my #1, Cranberry Mimosa is my top sweet scent, and Fiery Affection is taking off at vendor events), plus some practical small business tips—like tracking every expense in a spreadsheet, saving receipts electronically, and cutting shipping costs by doing local pickup when you can (Uline has been a game-changer for my jars).
