Hey y’all—welcome back to Vlogmas Day 10 on Designs By Steffanie. In this one, I’m doing a real chit-chat while I straighten and flat-iron my hair. I had just shampooed, my sugar was dropping so I had to stop and eat, and my hair was still a little damp—but I went on and got started with heat protectant, a little oil, and my cape. I also talk about how I originally started YouTube doing hair, and yes, I’m a licensed cosmetologist (over 30 years), so this is the kind of “everyday” hair stuff I’ve always done. I walk y’all through how I like to straighten my hair without frying it—especially because my hair is white and too much heat will burn it and turn it yellow (and I’m not going for burnt hair). I keep my tools at a lower temp and focus on getting it “straight enough” to wear, because between hot flashes and sweating, it’s going to swell up anyway. I also share how I’ll finish it—wrapping it, laying my edges, or adding a little wave with flexi rods, twists, or a few braids—depending on how I’m feeling that day.
