In this studio vlog, I’m bringing y’all along while I go pick up a Uline order and show you how I save money on freight when I’m ordering supplies. Since the Uline facility is only about 15 miles from my house (about a 20-minute drive), I always try to plan my orders around their pickup option. My rule is simple: I wait until I have about $300 worth of supplies I actually need, place the order, and then go pick it up so I can skip those big freight charges. I also explain the fees so you can do the math for your own business. If you don’t hit $300, there’s a $25 handling fee, but in my case the freight was going to be around $90—so I’d rather spend a few dollars in gas and keep that money in my business. They have everything on a pallet ready to go, and even with an SUV (no truck), they load it up for you. This trip was mainly for 12 boxes of clear candle jars (16 oz size), plus I grabbed two tape dispensers to push my total over $300. And of course, I’m also chatting about holiday prep—more vendor events, bigger candle sizes, and why I switched to clear jars so I can play with colored candles (even though 100% soy wax can make colors come out lighter once it sets).
