About This Video

In this video I’m unboxing and testing the Silkland Ultra Certified HDMI 2.1 cable, and I’m basically breaking down why this isn’t just a “regular regular” HDMI cable. Right out of the box you get a little manual with the specs, a 2-year warranty, and customer support info—then it’s straight to the cable. The first thing I noticed is how premium it feels: it’s braided (so it’s not getting tangled up easily), it has protective caps on the ends, and the connector has a little groove/notch so it’s easier to grip when you plug it in or pull it out. For the specs, this cable supports 8K at 60Hz and 4K at 144Hz, plus Dolby Vision and HDR. I tested it on my older ASUS monitor by hooking it up to my Xbox Series S for gaming and then to my laptop for YouTube in 4K. Even with a monitor that’s like 6 years old, the picture looked noticeably better than the basic HDMI cable I was using before. If you’re on Xbox, PlayStation, or PC and you want a solid HDMI 2.1 cable for under $20, this one is definitely worth checking out.
