The big thing to know is that AirPods firmware updates automatically, but if you’re stuck, I go over the steps that usually force it: update your iPhone to the latest iOS (in this case, iOS 26.2), connect to Wi‑Fi, put both buds in the case, plug the case into power, and wait about 30 minutes. I also point out something I noticed during updating: the AirPods version can jump to 8B34 before the case firmware catches up, so give it a few minutes.
