One of the biggest things I want to clear up is the whole “noise cancellation isn’t working” complaint. A lot of the time it’s not the firmware—it’s settings. If you have Conversation Awareness turned on, it can mess with your noise cancellation. You also want to confirm you’re actually in Noise Cancellation mode (not Adaptive or Transparency), and if you use hearing health features, turning that down can also help because it can affect how ANC feels. Apple’s release notes are the usual “bug fixes and other improvements,” but that typically points to connectivity, battery life, and sound quality. Apple’s also been testing this update since January 2025, so I really think this one is targeting bigger issues.
