About This Video

This video is all about Blink’s newest outdoor camera, the Blink Outdoor 2K+. Blink says it’s “no worries, no wires, and no compromises,” so I put that claim to the test and walked through what’s actually new here—because the naming is already confusing. I just reviewed the Blink Outdoor 4, so you’d think this would be an Outdoor 5… but nope. Physically, it’s still that compact square design with rounded corners, and it comes with the weather shield for IP65 protection, so it’s built for rain, dust, snow, and the usual outdoor abuse. The real upgrades are in the lens and features. You’re getting 2K resolution, 4x zoom, and noticeably better clarity than the Outdoor 4—even in infrared night vision. Blink also added color night vision, which is basically a must-have feature nowadays. There’s also a new sensor near the lens that I couldn’t find solid info on (I’m guessing a light sensor, because it’s not a spotlight). My takeaway: this is the smoothest experience I’ve ever had with a Blink product, and the video quality is finally getting better. But it’s still a budget camera that’s behind on some must-have features, and if you want the smart detection stuff like person and vehicle detection, you’re going to need to be okay with paying a monthly subscription. If you want easy setup and affordability, it might be for you—if you want cutting-edge features, you may want to pass.
