About This Video

In this video I’m testing the Reolink Solar Floodlight Cam — a low-cost 2K (4MP) security camera that’s completely wireless, so you don’t have to run power or Ethernet. Ain’t nobody got time for that. I’ve had it set up for a while, and I walk through the design, how the built-in solar panel and battery setup works, and what you can realistically expect from it day and night with sample footage (IR night vision and with the spotlights on). What I like most is how low-effort it is. It’s running a 7,800mAh battery (Reolink says up to 3 months), and the SolarEase 3W panel is designed to keep it topped off with about an hour of sunlight a day. You also get a wide 150° field of view, color night vision using the two floodlights, and AI detection that can tell the difference between people, vehicles, and animals — and that matters because you can stop the lights from blasting on for every random critter and annoying your neighbors. I also cover the app experience: live view, talk, playback, siren, floodlight controls, motion zones, and alert options. And as always, one of my must-haves is here: local storage via microSD (up to 512GB) or Reolink’s hub/NVR — no monthly fees for footage I already paid for.
