About This Video

In this video I’m testing the Pairr Max Pro (this little black box) to solve a very real “first world problem”: my vehicle has CarPlay, but not wireless CarPlay. I hate having to pull my phone out and plug it in every time, and I noticed I barely used CarPlay in my wife’s vehicle because of that. The Max Pro plugs into your car’s USB port and basically turns the wired CarPlay/Android Auto you already have into wireless—then you can pretty much forget it’s even there. What surprised me is it’s more than just wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. It boots into an Android-based menu where you can launch apps like Netflix, YouTube, IPTV, and Prime Video right on the vehicle screen. I walk through the setup, pairing, menu speed (no stinking lag), and what you need for streaming—either a mobile hotspot (your phone’s hotspot) or local media on a USB thumb drive. My big takeaways: it boots fast, it’s small enough to hide, and it’s awesome for road trips so the family can stream in my wife’s vehicle too (just don’t watch videos while you’re driving).
