In this video I unbox, assemble, and review the Hikole 12V electric Jeep ride-on car we grabbed for about $130. With the weather warming up, my 20-month-old has been riding on my scooter with me, so I figured it was time to get him something he can enjoy on his own. One of the big reasons I chose this one is it’s a one-seater (perfect for us right now) and it comes with a parent remote, because it’s going to take a bit for him to learn steering and pedal control. I walk through the full assembly step-by-step—side steps, fenders, bullbar, steering rack and springs, front and rear wheels, axle mounts, motors, doors, mirrors, steering wheel, wiring under the seat, seat/backrest, light bar, and windshield. The manual is easy to follow, and even though it looks like a lot of parts, it’s not a big deal once you start. After it’s built, I go over the features and how it drives: working headlights, Bluetooth/USB/AUX and preloaded music, a decent-looking control panel, forward/reverse, and two speeds (about 1.8 mph to 3.1 mph). The remote works, but you do have to “constantly steer” a bit since everything’s plastic/metal and not perfectly aligned—think left-right-left-right like a Nintendo cheat code. My main downside is the pedal/remote interaction: if my kid hits the gas and I need to stop him quick, I’m cautious about slamming it into reverse since the instructions warn that can hurt the motor.
