Is X32-Edit or M32-Edit better for routing an X32?

For routing, I think the Edit software is the best way to do it because you can see everything clearly without being at the console. The M32 and X32 run the same operating system, so M32-Edit (which is what I use) will control an X32 just fine. Different logo, same brain.

Where do I assign inputs on an X32/M32 in the routing menu?

You assign all 32 console inputs on the Inputs tab. That’s where you choose Local, AES50 A/B (stagebox), Card (USB/Dante), or User In as the source. Auxiliary inputs are also handled from that same Inputs page via the AUX in remap section.

How do AES50 A and B routing work on the X32/M32?

AES50 A and B are the two ports on the back of the console for stageboxes and other AES50 devices. On the Inputs tab you’re choosing what comes in from AES50, and on the AES50 tab you’re choosing what gets sent back out to the stagebox XLR outputs. And quick practical tip: whatever port you connect to on the console, always connect to the A port on the stagebox.

What does the Card routing tab do on X32/M32-Edit?

The Card tab is where you decide what sources you’re sending to the connected card—usually USB audio interface, Dante, or something similar. Think of it as “send to computer,” not “get inputs from computer.” If you want to pull inputs from the card into channels, you do that on the Inputs tab.

How do I route X32 outputs to the physical XLR connectors?

First, build your signals on Out 1-16 (mix buses, main L/R, matrices, etc.). Then on the XLR tab you assign what source feeds each physical XLR output on the console. Same idea if you’re routing to a stagebox: you’ll use the AES50 tab to feed its output ports.

Use the Out Delay tab. You can set delay in milliseconds, and it also shows feet/meters which makes it super practical when you’re placing delay speakers. I like using a laser to measure the distance, then dial it in and toggle the delay on/off per output.

User In is huge because it lets you route per channel instead of in blocks of eight. My go-to example is multitracks: if we don’t have a bass player, I’ll replace the bass input (like channel 12) with Card/Dante 12, so the bass still lands on the same channel strip. It keeps your show file and labeling consistent while swapping sources cleanly.

How do I route Ultranet for P16 personal mixers on X32/M32?

That’s on the Ultranet tab, where you assign sources to the 16 buttons on the P16 mixers. I like grouping things intentionally—like sending tracks on a mix bus, or grouping crowd/house mics—so the band has a clean, usable layout. Labeling those 16 sends well makes a massive difference.
