Controlling LED Lights with StreamDeck (BitFocus Companion)

BitFocus Companion sends Art-Net info over the network to the LED Sticks, each connected to Wifi with unique IP addresses. Art-Net for the Fixtures goes to an Enttec ODE MK3 to become 5pin DMX.

About This Video

In this video I’m showing you the LED fixtures we built for The Well (our young adults ministry) and the simple way we change the whole vibe of the room with a Stream Deck. I’ve got the Stream Deck mounted right in a rack, and with a single button press I can flip the stage to blue, red, green, or off. I can also toggle the stage lights and even the drum light on and off, so we can land on whatever look we want for the night—fast, repeatable, and no guessing. Then I walk through how it actually works inside BitFocus Companion on my Mac. I open the Companion GUI, set up connections, and show you how each LED stick is basically an Art-Net connection with its own unique IP address and universe. When you press a button, Companion fires off a stack of actions—mostly duplicates—using “set complex value” to hit specific DMX channels and values. Since these sticks are in a 3-channel RGB mode (technically GRV on my setup), I’m just pushing channels to 255 for full on and back to 0 for off. That same idea scales to other fixtures too, and it’s exactly how I’m controlling spots and the drum LED stick as well.
