About This Video

Your church’s live stream won’t gain traction if it doesn’t reliably make it to your audience. In this video I walk through how I think about “setup for success” so your stream is actually live every single gathering you tell people it will be. Consistency is key—missing even one week a month can quietly shrink your momentum. And if your internet is the real problem, I highly recommend RESI because it does two-way communication and retransmits missing packets. I’ve literally had our network drop for a full minute mid-service, and when it came back RESI resent the missing minute and nobody could even tell. Then I break reliability down into 6 critical areas that have to work: (1) broadcast camera (power, lens cap, presets, and who owns that position), (2) broadcast audio (console on, buses/DCAs, levels, and a mix that represents what’s happening on stage), (3) stream graphics (countdowns and pre-service slides to keep online people engaged), (4) video switcher (right input in program, graphics actually live), (5) streaming encoder (hardware vs software like OBS/RTMP), and (6) a streaming service provider (RESI or BoxCast) so scheduling, titles, and auto-start/stop are handled. My final challenge: make a checklist—because it takes an army, and checklists keep the easy-to-miss details from killing your stream.
