In this video, I’m doing one of my favourite kinds of projects: a creative, sustainable T-shirt mashup using four pre-loved tees. I cut them up, mix the pieces, and sew them back together into a fresh set of mixed-and-matched shirts—so you can keep the one you love most and then give away or even sell the others. It’s such a fun way to use what you already have, deal with tees that don’t quite fit, and keep textiles out of the landfill. I walk you through a few different cutting layouts to get totally different looks, including one layout that can actually help you make a T-shirt bigger. Then I show you my polished exposed-seam method on the serger: seam allowances on the outside, but neatly finished so it mimics that beautiful cover-stitch vibe. To finish it off, I show you how I do a clean, stretchy twin-needle hem that works really well on knits and refashioning projects.
