Ever find a pair of thrifted pants that are adorable… and also about six sizes too small? That’s exactly what I’m tackling in this pant mash-up. I start with two tiny pairs (think size 0-ish) and combine them into one intentionally-designed, super wearable pair that fits closer to a size 10. The “aha” moment is using a panel from the back of the donor pants as a side insert—so you get extra width without it looking like an afterthought. I walk you through the overall process and the design choices that make it look cool on purpose, like turning the original back pocket into a brand-new side pocket. If you’ve got basic sewing skills and you’re comfortable taking pants apart and putting them back together, this is surprisingly doable—and it’s such a good reminder that fit issues aren’t a dead end.
