In this breathwork basics video, I’m breaking down bandhas (aka body locks) and why I use them in my daily practice. If you’ve ever been like, “Okay… but what is a bandha?” I got you. I share my personal definition: these locks help lift energy up and out, and I’ve found that when I’m operating from that “higher” space, it’s easier to detach from the lower-energy loop of food/sex/sleep and come back to presence. I’m a big believer that desire and peace just can’t coexist, so bandhas are one of the tools I use to choose peace. I walk you through the four main bandhas I implement: root bandha (pelvic floor lift), uddiyana bandha (the stomach vacuum / vagus nerve stimulation), the chin/tongue lock (chin slightly tucked + tongue to the roof of the mouth), and the third eye focus (looking up to the center of the forehead). I explain when I apply them (mostly at the top of the breath), how to practice them one at a time, and why it’s normal if the pelvic floor lift is the hardest at first. By the end, you’ll have a simple, digestible way to start practicing these locks day to day for a quick reset and a calmer nervous system.
