About This Video

In this video I’m sharing an insecurity of mine that might surprise you: my relationship with my own voice. It’s kind of ironic because I make YouTube videos and teach breathwork, but for a long time I wished I had ā€œone of thoseā€ voices—the kind that takes the room without even trying. Growing up, public speaking stressed me out, projecting my voice felt terrifying, and even tiny things (like speaking on a grocery store intercom or leading volleyball cheers as captain) made me overthink how I sounded. What shifted for me wasn’t just learning how to talk louder—it was realizing this goes deeper than volume. For me, it connected to voicing myself, speaking up, expressing emotions, and unlearning some people-pleasing. I used to avoid microphones because they made everything feel 10x scarier, and then I literally put a microphone on my vision board as a reminder to embody my voice. Now, teaching breathwork is one of the places I feel the most grounded and confident—people even tell me my voice is soothing. If you’ve ever felt weird about your voice, I want this to be your reminder: it doesn’t have to be like that forever, and you can find the spaces where your voice actually thrives.
