Hello pool friends—this video is my first vacuum of the season, and yep… it’s basically July 1st, so I’m a little late. The pool’s been up for about two months, and honestly it’s looking pretty good. We had a super hot day (our air conditioner even went out), so we got in the pool, topped off the water, and I finally decided it was time to vacuum.
I’m using a super basic new Walmart vacuum I grabbed cheap, and I actually really like it. The little rollers/spinny parts help brush stuff toward the suction, so it feels like it’s doing more than just dragging along the bottom. I’m also running my VE 1 horsepower pump (year two and I’m still very happy with it), and I’ll be flushing it out afterward to see how it goes. Full honesty: I forgot to put my basket in, and I’ve decided I’m the laziest of all pool people—and that’s okay.
My main takeaway is: don’t stress too much. I’ve just been dumping a little liquid chlorine in at night (like three cups) and running the filter a lot, and it’s been going fine. Happy swimming.
