I went live for a super simple winter garden moment—planting flowers and chatting about our little road to 12,000 subscribers. My garden is honestly looking rough right now (dead basil, dead ginger… winter is doing what winter does), but I still like to keep something pretty going. I grabbed ornamental purple kale from my local nursery (they were $3 each!) and potted them up to sit outside our business—purple is our color theme, and these guys don’t mind the cold. While I was out there, I also talked through one of my favorite “I learned this the hard way” garden tips: if you put mums in the ground, they’ll come back. So I pulled a mum out of a pot, stole that pot for my kale arrangement, and got the mum ready to go in the ground. I also showed what’s still hanging on in my Zone 8 Louisiana winter garden (a decent broccoli, some struggling starts, wild strawberries, and a whole lot of “we’ll see”). If you’re trying to grow a YouTube channel too, my biggest takeaway is still: don’t overthink it—just video what you’re already doing, and going live can really help you find new people.
