Well, hello gardening friends—this one is just a little bit of garden time with me after being out of the beds for a while. For my birthday I got these raised garden beds I’ve been wanting forever (not sponsored, and I can’t even remember the exact brand name). I’m setting one up and filling it the way I like to do it: cheap. I tossed sticks and cardboard in the bottom, then used dirt from around the garden and added some compost. These beds take a lot to fill, and I’m just not about to go buy a bunch of stuff for it.
I also share a quick look at how “nothing” the garden is right now—there are a few onions hanging on, and I took my fence down. Ben grabbed me a little walkway thing, and I put rugs underneath because weeds will absolutely come through if you let them. The best part was the surprise: asparagus popping up in my little patch. That’s why I love the garden—there’s always something unexpected. And my big takeaway is the same as always: don’t stress it. Plant something, even if it’s small, and let the garden be joy. I’ve got tomatoes, peppers, and some flowers started inside too (a little neglected), and I’ll share those soon.
