About This Video

In this video I’m reviewing the Thieaudio Hype 4—six drivers total with a 2DD + 4BA setup and Thieaudio’s Impact2 system—and I’m also comparing it to the Hype 2, Hype 10 and more. I go over the unboxing (it’s very “Thieaudio standard”: similar packaging, generic case, foam + white silicone tips), the build, and why I’m obsessed with the blue colorway in person. I also talk about the cable (3.5mm stock) and why I think, at this price, they could’ve thrown in an option for balanced—although in real use I didn’t find the Hype 4 power-hungry at all. Sound-wise, the big headline is the bass: it can dig deep and rumble, but it stays controlled and doesn’t bleed into the mids. Compared to the Hype 2, it’s still bass-forward, just not as heavily tuned—so it comes across more like a true all-rounder. The mids are smooth, clean, neutral-leaning with a touch of warmth, and the detail surprised me (I even heard some similarities going back and forth with my Monarchs). Treble is extended and non-fatiguing, and when I pushed volume up around 75% it felt like the top end “woke up” in a way that really suited EDM builds and drops. Overall, I think the Hype 4 punches hard for the money and steals shine from a lot of older $500–$600 tribrids.
