I think it does indeed hype but not in a puch above its price way but instead as a redefinition of its price category.

About This Video

In this review I’m talking about the THIEAUDIO Hype 2, and yeah—naming an IEM “Hype” in this community is basically asking to get dunked on. But in this case, I think it’s justified. The big story is the price: at around $300, Hype 2 doesn’t “punch above” into the $500 tribrid class, but it absolutely redefines what the $300 category should feel like when the tuning is done properly. I go over the build and accessories (standard THIEAUDIO presentation, a really nice cable, recessed 2-pin, and a metal nozzle that I genuinely prefer for durability). Then it’s all about the sound: the dual dynamic driver bass is the star—impactful, textured, and packed with detail. I use jazz and double bass to judge bass quality, and Hype 2 nails that transition from mid-bass into the lower mids without doing the usual “drop-off to avoid mud.” The midrange has a hint of warmth with excellent imaging and separation, and female vocals pop from a tasteful upper-mid lift. Treble is smooth, extended, and detailed without being a treblehead V-shape, which makes it versatile across genres. My main nitpick is the lack of a balanced termination option in the box—otherwise, it’s one of the best $300 IEMs I’ve heard.
