About This Video

In this review I’m taking a look at the Final Audio ZE8000, Final’s flagship true wireless set (anything with “8000” from Final is basically the top model). On paper it’s stacked: Bluetooth 5.2, Snapdragon chipset, SBC/AAC plus aptX and aptX Adaptive, and a bunch of playback modes. I also talk about battery—Final claims 15 hours from the case, but in my use I was getting more like 12.5–13 because I had to push the volume a bit. Design-wise, these are big. The case looks great on the outside with that Final texture, but the inside feels cheap and plasticky, and the case is huge compared to something like the Sony LinkBuds S. Fit is “decent” for me with the stock medium tips, but they’re awkward and not something I’d pick for sports, plus they can catch wind (there is a wind mode in the app). The main story is the sound: the ZE8000 is one of the better-sounding true wireless sets I’ve used for technical performance. Detailed mids, crisp airy highs, and bass that’s average in quantity but has good texture and speed. The tradeoff is that ANC is minimal, the app is basically useless, and the touch controls are honestly bonkers—like five taps for the voice assistant—so you’re buying these for sound first, not for “Sony/Apple level” features.
