It comes with a higher price point, so is it worth it, and does it stand up to the competition in our tests? About This Video

In this video I get right into the Seekreal Dawn Pro review, especially because I wasn’t very impressed with the original Dawn. Build-wise, I actually like a lot here: the clamshell-style shell looks good, it’s all metal (body, nozzles, and grilles), and the cable is surprisingly solid for a loose quad-braid—low microphonics, all-metal hardware, and a gold-plated 3.5mm plug. Accessories are decent too, with a nice-looking leather carry case and a bunch of tips, but as always I still recommend grabbing AZLA tips if they fit. For sound, the Dawn Pro is a competent, smooth, detail-focused set that works across a wide range of genres—I tested classical, soundtracks, hip-hop, electronic, pop/rock, and acoustic. The big issue for me is the “why” of this IEM: once you mix the planar driver with balanced armatures, you lose some of that special planar magic I’m always talking about—the holographic, 3D presentation that makes planar tech exciting in the first place. It competes in the $200–$300 space, but value-wise it’s not the standout, and in 2023 that’s a problem because you’re living in a world of great earphones.
