About This Video

I’ve been a little MIA on YouTube (and honestly a bit on Instagram too), and I kept dodging the question everyone was asking: did I quit being a vet? Nope — I’m still here, still a small animal veterinarian, and I’m finally catching you up on the big life changes from the past year and a half… including the fact that your girl’s a wife now. In this chatty Q&A, I break your questions into new grad life, vet school/NAVLE, and a little rapid-fire life stuff. On the new grad side, I talk about my biggest struggle transitioning from student to doctor: decision fatigue. Going from exams to answering 50–100 questions a day from clients and staff is a wild shift, and it took time to get comfortable. I also share how I got more confident (and more efficient) in surgery through mentorship, why speed shouldn’t be the goal in GP, and how my interests have changed — dentistry was a big thing for me in vet school, but now I’ve developed a real love for eyes (I’ve done eight enucleations!) and I’m getting more into ultrasound. For NAVLE, I share how I studied using VetPrep, why flexibility matters during fourth-year rotations, and my biggest reminder: even when you’re not “studying,” you’re still learning on clinics. It sucks, but you will get through it — and I genuinely think the job is worth it.
