About This Video

Happy 2024 friends — in this video I’m sharing my goals for the year and how I’m trying to become the best version of myself, not just personally, but as a veterinarian too. This is the first New Year where I’m setting goals as a working professional (which still feels wild), and I wanted to use this as a way to hold myself accountable. Professionally, a lot of my goals honestly revolve around protecting my mental health: setting better boundaries, staying late less, and becoming more efficient with things like records (hello templates) so I’m not bringing work home and burning out. I also talk through the vet-specific skills I want to keep building as I move past the “new grad” phase — improving my surgery and dental skills (especially extractions), and expanding my surgery repertoire beyond the basics. I’m also making myself a new grad reference guide with common treatment protocols (ear infections, eye infections, etc.) so I have quick one-page reminders when things get busy. On the personal side, I’m focusing on being a person outside of vet med: working out 3x/week, moving my body daily, drinking water before coffee, meal prepping (for health and finances), reading 15 books, spending more time outside (okay… more of a summer goal), and staying connected with family and friends. And for YouTube, my big goals are consistency (at least 2 videos/month), possibly creating digital resources for vet school applicants/new grads, and putting it out into the universe: 25k subscribers.
