About This Video

In this vet school Q&A livestream, I popped on (for the first time in forever) to answer the questions I get asked all the time about vet school, the application process, and what fourth year actually looks like. We talk a lot about staying motivated when you’re studying—because I’ve 100% been in that spot where you’re reading the same slide over and over and nothing is going in. My biggest things are taking real breaks when you’re not being productive, and making a reasonable to-do list (like 2–3 goals, not 20) so you don’t just beat yourself up all day. I also share a fourth-year update because I’m officially halfway through my mixed animal externship, and it’s been busy but honestly I feel like I’ve learned more in the past four weeks than in the past three years of vet school. I walk you through what my days look like (surgeries in the morning, consults/appointments in the afternoon), the kinds of cases I’m seeing, and why hands-on experience makes such a huge difference. On the applications side, I answer questions about undergrad majors, OVC interviews (MMI/Casper/BIF), vet vs animal experience, applying in third year vs fourth year, and even balancing vet school with a new puppy—because yes, it was overwhelming at first, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
