Hey guys, in this video I’m officially bringing home my golden retriever puppy, Link, and I’m taking you along for the whole journey—from the moment we found out the breeder’s mom was pregnant to the actual pickup day and our first 24 hours at home. We had about a four-hour drive, and I’m not even kidding, he was such an angel—he slept for three out of four hours and just melted my heart. You’ll see little clips from the drive, his first naps, and a proper “meet Link” introduction because I’m genuinely obsessed with him. I also sit down and explain why we decided to get a puppy during vet school, because I know people will have questions. I grew up with a family dog, and after we had to put her down in my third year of undergrad, I knew I wanted a dog again—but I needed to be realistic about timing and responsibility. Once I finished first year and felt like I had a good grasp on how to study as a vet student, my boyfriend and I decided we could balance a puppy with school. I also share my thoughts on “adopt or shop responsibly,” because I’m a huge believer in doing your research and choosing reputable rescues or breeders.
