About This Video

Hey guys — welcome to the first video of a brand new chapter. In this one, I’m catching you up on what’s been going on over the past month because it has been an absolute whirlwind: I officially graduated vet school (yes, cap and gown, diploma, all of it), and I’ve now been a practicing small animal veterinarian in general practice for over a month. It’s been equal parts ā€œpinch me, this is a dreamā€ and ā€œdo I want to retire already?ā€ (kidding… kind of). I also talk about how bittersweet graduation felt, and why it was finally time to say goodbye to ā€œstudent vet Amandaā€ and step into ā€œYour Vet Amanda.ā€ I’m also sharing the direction I want this channel to take moving forward. I don’t want to be a page that preaches medical advice — this has always been a safe space to document the real highs and lows, and to be a resource for you wherever you are in the journey (high school, undergrad, applying, in vet school, or now curious about new grad life). I’m being super honest about imposter syndrome coming back ā€œback and better than ever,ā€ and the stuff vet school didn’t fully prepare me for, like my first euthanasia and negotiating contracts. Going forward, I’m thinking new grad vlogs, vet school Q&As, and maybe a ā€œstudy group Sundayā€ with a clinical spin so we can bridge the gap between exam knowledge and real-life client communication.
