About This Video

After my last video, people were hyping up my “positivity,” which made me laugh—because this is the first of a little three-video run where I’m going to be blunt. In this one, I’m explaining (politely) why I don’t want to buy your LEGO inventory, even though I’m getting a ton of emails from people asking me to “take over” their stock. I’m not down in the dumps about the market—I’m just realistic about where we’re at (a consolidation period), and I’m not here to play games. I break down the two fastest ways to get an automatic “no” from me: sending an inventory list with no prices, and trying to “sell to me like a reseller” (example: a retired set with $50 RRP going for $90, and you offer it to me for $60 like you’re doing me a favor). I’ve got my own ways to source inventory and I’ve never depended on liquidation deals to be successful. If you want a rule of thumb for selling inventory to me (or anyone serious), it’s simple: if it’s still on shelves, I’m buying at 50% off; if it’s retired and it’s a true winner, I’m willing to pay RRP—assuming the market actually supports it. And yes, I’ll often pass your spreadsheet through my VIP network, and most of the time the answer is still “no.”
